About Physics

Physics is the study of natural phenomena. Studying physics provides a framework for the conceptual understanding of all relations governing physical processes.

Major concepts such as energy conservation apply throughout nature and are seen in each course. The understanding of the behavior of a specific system lies in seeing its connection to these larger concepts. Doing physics emphasizes applying natural laws to specific scenarios to develop predictive, quantitative models.

Skills obtained from studying and using physics are useful in all sciences. As well, the skills obtained from using physics apply in any area where quantitative analysis is required such as engineering and computer programming.
